A man was found dead and a woman was injured, both with multiple gunshot wounds, in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday morning, police said.
Responding to an 8:24 a.m. report of "shots heard" in the 1400 block of Paseo de Oro (map), police found a deceased male with gunshot wounds, Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Officer Sara Faden said.
A woman with gunshot wounds was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, Faden said.
Neighbors told news media at the scene that the man had had a stroke in recent months. When his female caregiver arrived at the home, he shot her and then ran into the street and shot himself, neighbors said.
Nearby resident Aidan Fite said he was sleeping when he heard four gunshots. He went downstairs.
"I went downstairs. I saw … my next-door neighbor sideways in the street with a gun in his hand, dead," Fite said.
Ambulances soon arrived and a woman that Fite described as a "his nanny or housekeeper, one of the two" came out, having been shot, Fite said.

Aerial video appeared to show a body under a bloody white sheet in the middle of the street, which is lined with homes. The area is part of a residential development called the Summit at Pacific Highlands.
Multiple patrol cars, an ambulance and a fire engine were on scene, aerial video showed.
All senior officers from the West LA station were at the scene, and the station would not release any details of the activity in the affluent coastal neighborhood.
