LAPD Seeks Public's Help to Find Missing 21-Year-Old Man

Authorities continued their search Friday for a 21-year-old man whose vehicle was found abandoned near Topanga nearly three weeks ago.

Matthew Jonathan Weaver Jr. was last seen about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 10 in the 2600 block of Stearns Street in Simi Valley. His vehicle was located the following day on the Topanga Tower Motorway, near Rosas Overlook above the Backbone Trail and Hondo Canyon areas, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera told City News Service that no new information has surfaced about the whereabouts of Weaver, who is white, 5 feet 9 and about 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Weaver had just moved to Granada Hills shortly before his disappearance. His family appealed for help today to find the missing man.

"Matthew would never torture his brother and sister by disappearing like this. Please help us find him," Brooke Tipton, Weaver's stepmother, told reporters.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts was urged to call the LAPD's Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800 or dial 911. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
