LAX Pedestrian Bridge Set to Close Ahead of Planned Demolition

The pedestrian bridge connecting Los Angeles International Airport's Terminal 6 with parking structure P-6 was closed Monday night, one month before it is set to be demolished to make way for a planned Automated People Mover.

Along with the bridge's permanent closure, overnight lane closures on the airport loop road near Terminal 6 began Monday night, and continue nightly Sunday through Thursday until May 18.

According to airport officials, up to two lanes will be closed near the terminal overnight on the upper and lower levels. The closures are expected to begin at 11:30 p.m. each night and end at 7 a.m. the following morning.

No lane closures are planned on Friday and Saturday nights.

The pedestrian bridge is scheduled to be demolished May 15-17.
