Lakers to Host First-Ever Pride Night

The Los Angeles Lakers will host their first ever Pride night to celebrate the team's supporters in the LGBTQ community as part of their preseason matchup against the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 4.

As part of the event, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles will perform the National Anthem. A basketball game featuring players from the Los Angeles Gay Basketball League will be held before matchup between the Lakers and Kings.

Jason Collins, who became the NBA's first openly gay active player in 2013, will be presented with an award for his work "promoting acceptance and inclusion" during the game.

All fans in attendance will receive a free Pride Night shirt.
