Leigh Steinberg, who may have inspired the Jerry Maguire movie character, said Wednesday night that he has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Steinberg blamed alcoholism for his financial ruin.
Steinberg says he filed for bankruptcy liquidation and protection because in recent years, "his judgment and the oversight of his affairs was not consistent and at times (was) impaired."
Steinberg once boasted the most famous stable of sports clients in the world, including Troy Aikman, Oscar De La Hoya and Dusty Baker.
In addition to inspiring the Tom Cruise movie character, Steinberg had a small part in Jerry Maguire.
