Where to Find Cheap Gas in LA During Price Hike

As the average gas prices continue to climb some motorists have been searching to get more bang for their buck. Gordon Tokumatsu reports for the NBC4 News on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. (Published Tuesday, April 16, 2019)

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged Thursday at $4.086, one day after rising seven-tenths of a cent to its highest amount since July 31, 2015.

The average price is 1.2 cents more than one week ago, 52.9 cents higher than one month ago and 43.8 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price rose one-tenth of a cent today to $4.063, one day after increasing 1.2 cents to its highest amount since July 31, 2015. It is 1.9 cents more than one week ago, 54.9 cents higher than one month ago and 45.5 cents greater than one year ago.

The higher prices are the result of a series of refinery issues that have reduced supply, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
