Residents Evacuated After Long Beach Shooting, Gunman Search

Residents were unable to return home overnight after the triple shooting

The search for a gunman involved in a triple shooting led to overnight evacuations in a Long Beach neighborhood.

The search began after three shooting victims were hospitalized with what authorities described as non-life threatening injuries. Residents were evacuated during the search near Anaheim Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue (map).

The shooting, which occurred at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday, appears to be gang related, according to Long Beach police. Evacuations were lifted early Monday morning, but no arrests were reported.

Some residents who were outside the evacuation area tried to sleep in their vehicles.

"We pretty much didn't sleep -- we've been in the car since 8 p.m.," one resident told NBC4 late Monday morning.
