Average Los Angeles Gas Price Rises Again, But by Less

A streak of four consecutive increases of more than 1 cent to the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County ended Tuesday when it rose four-tenths of a cent to $3.665.

California is known for having some of the highest gas prices in the country, and they just went up higher. It's all part of a ballot measure two years ago aimed at improving mass transit.

The average price rose 1.6 cents Friday, 4.2 cents Saturday, 1.9 cents Sunday and 1.1 cents Monday after decreasing 26 times in 27 days through last Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 9.7 cents more than one week ago and four-tenths of a cent higher than one year ago but 2.3 cents less than one month ago.

The Orange County average price rose a half-cent for the second consecutive day to $3.636, 8.7 cents more than one week ago and 3.2 cents higher than one year ago but 1.9 cents less than one month ago.
