"Santa Ana winds gusting below the passes and canyons. We've got high pressure building in over the Great Basin. It's going to hang in there for about another day or so before the winds begin subsiding," said NBC4 weathercaster Carl Bell.

The National Weather Service warned drivers to be careful on the roadways: "Gusty cross winds can create hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles. Winds this strong can down power lines and tree branches."
