2 Arrested in Deadly Party Bus Shooting in Hollywood

One of the victims was down alongside a party bus and the other was a few feet away

Two people have been arrested in connection with what appears to be a gang-related shooting in Hollywood late Friday that left one passenger of a party bus dead and another critically injured, authorities said.

The shooting happened at 11:45 p.m. near Sunset Boulevard and El Centro Avenue, across the street from the Hollywood Palladium, said Sgt. Enrique Mendoza of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.

Investigators said the bus was carrying as many 40 passengers when it arrived in Hollywood from Compton. Some passengers who had to use the restroom requested that the bus pull over.

At some point, there was an argument outside the bus, and that's when the gunfire broke out, police said.

When officers arrived, one of the men was down alongside the bus and the other was a few feet away, Mendoza said.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the unidentified man died, he said. The other victim was in serious, but stable condition.

Two people, whose names were not released, were detained and later arrested, police said.

Sunset Boulevard was closed in both directions between Gower Street and Argyle Avenue as police investigated the shooting, Mendoza said.
