Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Rialto Identified

A 40-year-old man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Rialto has been identified Sunday, officials said.

Rudolph Zamarano, 40, was walking in the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard around 2 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle, according to Sgt. Richard Royce of the Rialto Police Department.

Officers in the area heard the loud collision and found Zamarano lying on the road, Royce said. Paramedics pronounced Zamarano dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He has not been charged with a crime.

Police said Zamarano appeared to be trying to cross the street when he was hit, and that it was unclear whether alcohol was a factor.
