Man Found Shot to Death in San Bernardino Field

The homicide is the 32nd in the Inland Empire city in 2014.

A man found shot to death in a San Bernardino field was identified Tuesday morning.

The body of Rayshawn Gardner was discovered by a passerby in a vacant field in the 1100 block of East Third Street about 8 p.m. Monday night, police said.

The 38-year-old San Bernardino resident lived nearby and police said the field is frequently used by residents as a pathway to get to stores along Third Street.

Gardner was shot at least once in the torso, investigators said. Another local resident heard one gunshot about an hour before Gardner’s body was discovered, police said.

Police said there is no suspect information and a motive for the shooting is unknown.

The homicide is the 32nd in the Inland Empire city this year.
