Driver Who Led Police on Pursuit Was Boy

The pursuit on surface streets continued for about one hour Sunday night

A motorist who police said was throwing gang signs with his hand out the driver's side window of what is believed to be a stolen Toyota Camry during a pursuit was a boy, police said on Monday.

The pursuit started at 11:20 p.m. Sunday near LAX in Inglewood.

Police, who described the driver as "a boy," did not provide the age of the motorist, said Inglewood Police Sgt. Brian Hand.

The winding pursuit lasted over an hour. The driver blew through traffic lights, drove in opposing lanes of traffic and had a at least a couple near misses with other vehicles, including a police car.

The driver appeared to at least once nearly miss a pedestrian, aerial footage of the chase showed.

The driver was believed to be driving a stolen Toyota Camry, police said.
