A homeless man was charged Tuesday with setting four weekend brush fires along Sepulveda Boulevard.
Steven William Adkison, 31, pleaded not guilty to four felony counts of arson of a structure or forest.
Adkison, who allegedly set the fires near Sepulveda Boulevard and Getty Center Drive on Sunday, could face up to eight years in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
A good Samaritan who allegedly witnessed Adkison setting one of the fires detained him until police and firefighters arrived, according to prosecutors.
Adkison -- who was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $300,000 bail -- is due back in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom May 6 for a hearing to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to allow the case against him to proceed to trial.
