Man Sought in Daytime Attack of Woman on Bike Path in Camarillo

Deputies on Monday added bike and foot patrols near a bicycle path in Camarillo where a woman was attacked over the weekend by a man deputies were urging the public to help identify.

The attack happened on the Calleguas Creek bike path between Adolfo Road and Mission Oaks Boulevard in Camarillo on Saturday at 3:25 p.m., according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The woman, who suffered minor scrapes, fought off her attacker, officials said. He ran south on the bike path toward Mission Oaks and disappeared.

Police set up a perimeter and used police dogs and a helicopter to search for the man, but they couldn't find him.

The man was described as an Asian or Hispanic male, 5 feet to 5 foot 7, and between 110 and 115 pounds. He was described as having a round-shaped face with medium length, straight black hair and no facial hair.

He was wearing a brown T-shirt, blue jeans and carrying a black back-pack. He may also possible scratch marks or bruises.
