Man Sought for Making Sexual Advances Toward Girls in Inland Empire

A man sought by police for making sexual advances towards underage girls in Beaumont and Yucaipa has been linked to another case of soliciting a girl in Beaumont, police said Thursday.

San Bernardino sheriff's deputies released a sketch last week of a man believed to have made advances towards girls during two separate incidents in May.

The first incident occurred in Yucaipa at 11:30 a.m. May 12, when two girls were walking in the 12700 block of Holmes Street and saw the suspect standing near a tree, according to the Yucaipa sheriff's station. The man ``unzipped his pants and made a sexual comment to the minors, who then turned and ran away,'' sheriff's deputies said.

The description given to deputies matched the description of a man who approached a girl on May 23 in Beaumont. Deputies initially said the man exposed himself to that victim, but later clarified that he only made an inappropriate comment to the girl, who fled shortly afterwards.

Beaumont police also believe the man approached a girl just before 8:30 a.m. May 30, when a girl was seen running past vehicles near Cherry Valley Avenue and Oak Valley Parkway, asking to be let into passing cars. The girl later told officers that a man ``blocked her path and solicited her,'' according to the Beaumont Police Deaprtment.

The suspect was described as white, between 20 and 30 years of age, with brown facial hair, wearing all black clothing and black baseball cap. In the May 30 incident, he was described as 6-foot-1 with brown hair and was wearing a stained burgundy shirt and blue jeans.

In all instances, he was seen driving an early 90s dark-colored Honda with front end damage.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Yucaipa sheriff's station Investigations Bureau at (909) 918-2305 or the Beaumont Police Department at (951) 769-8500.
