Man Wearing Joker Mask in Televised Pursuit is Charged

A 40-year-old Santa Ana man who led police on a chase wearing a Joker mask was charged with felony crimes in connection with the pursuit, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Damik A. Disdier faces one felony count of fleeing an officer while driving recklessly. Disdier has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He's accused of leading police on a chase wearing a Joker mask in a televised pursuit on Saturday. The chase began in Westminster and ended about 40 miles north to Venice beach where he abandoned his car, took off on the famed Venice Boardwalk and was taken down by police on the beach, prosecutors said.

At one point during the chase, he jumped out of the sunroof and sat on the roof of the car. He also allegedly displayed a prop chain saw, officials said.
