A man facing murder charges is now accused of attacking an attorney and a deputy inside a Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man was in Los Angeles Superior Court in downtown Los Angeles for a preliminary hearing, where he was facing murder charges, when he threw a chair at a prosecutor and an LAPD detective, LAPD Officer Wendy Reyes said.

The chair hit the female detective in the head and the attorney in the shoulder, officials said.

Spike Strip Sits in Street Days After Pursuit

The detective was hospitalized in the chair-throwing incident and later released, Reyes said.

Police did not give details about why the man threw the chair.
