Man in 20s Drowns During Party in Riverside

A man in his 20s drowned during a pool party in Riverside Saturday night, officials said.

Authorities responded to a report of a drowning in the 1600 block of Southport Drive, according to Lt. Julian Hutzler of the Riverside Police Department.

When firefighters arrived, the man was pulled from the pool and paramedics performed CPR. He was taken to Parkview Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Hutzler said.

Hutzler said the man was “yanked by a patron from the bottom of the pool.”

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the incident.

The man’s identity was not being released.
