17 Students Report Illness at Watts School

The students became ill after eating the same food, according to fire officials

Authorities responded to a Watts elementary school Friday after 17 children became ill -- possibly because of something they ate.

Paramedics reported 17 ill students who appeared to have eaten the same food item before becoming sick, Los Angeles County Fire officials said. School officials are attempting to determine what caused the illnesses.

The ill students at Ritter Elementary Schoo were released to their parents, according to fire officials

The report was received at about 12:30 p.m. Aerial video showed two ambulances outside the school in the 11000 block of Watts Avenue (map).
