Streets Closed for Police Search in Mid-City Neighborhood

Canine units and other officers searched the area west of downtown LA

Several blocks in the Mid-City area were locked down after a brief pursuit that led to a search for the subject early Wednesday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear how the pursuit began, but the subject might have struck an LAPD vehicle. Aerial video showed an LAPD squad car with front-end damage and a line of police vehicles on a freeway overpass.

Canine units were at the location west of downtown Los Angeles near the 10 Freeway and Crenshaw Boulevard. An LAPD aerial unit was above the neighborhood at mid-day.

Several streets were closed to traffic in the five-block search area.
