Covina Middle School Teacher Indicted on Child Porn Charges

Teacher also accused of luring a 14-year-old boy over the Internet for molestation

A grand jury indicted a Covina middle school teacher on six counts of child pornography-related crimes Tuesday, authorities said.

John David Boyle, 49, of Glendora was arrested June 2 after he invited an undercover federal agent to his Royal Oak Middle School classroom "for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity while watching child pornography," according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office.

Boyle is accused of luring a 14-year-old boy over the Internet for molestation, and trading child porn on the web.

When the undercover agent showed up at the classroom last month, he handed Boyle a thumb drive that Boyle believed contained child pornography, according to the statement. Agents then walked into the classroom, arrested Boyle and seized his digital devices, which allegedly contained child pornography.

If convicted, Boyle faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
