Police Seek Man Who Stabbed Student on Montebello Bus

Detectives Tuesday released images of a man suspected of stabbing and critically injuring a fellow passenger aboard a transit bus in East Los Angeles.

The attack took place about 10:15 a.m. Monday in the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard aboard a Montebello Public Transit bus, according to Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's department reported.

A possible motive for the stabbing has not been disclosed. The suspect, who got off the bus and fled on foot after stabbing the victim, was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s to early 40s. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 170 to 180 pounds and was wearing a blue and orange shirt and green shorts.

Anyone who was on the bus, which was westbound on Whittier Boulevard traveling Montebello Public Transit Route 10, was urged to call Sheriff's
