7-Month-Old Girl on Life Support After Suffering “Suspicious Injuries”

The unidentified baby girl is not expected to survive

A 7-month-old girl is on life support and not expected to survive after suffering “suspicious injuries” and police have opened a child abuse investigation, authorities said Friday.

The baby girl was taken to the hospital shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday because she was having difficulty breathing, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

After performing “several medical procedures,” doctors determined the girl had suspicious injuries and put her on life support, sheriff’s officials said.

The unidentified 7-month-old was on life support Friday night for the purposes of organ donation, sheriff’s officials said.

Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department were called to the hospital for a report of possible child abuse and are investigating how the girl was harmed.

Anyone with information is urged to call Investigator Dean of the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777, or Detective Posson of the Moreno Valley Police Department at 951-486-6700.
