Mother, Two Children Killed in Hollywood Crash

The family's van struck a utility pole after colliding with an SUV on Highland Avenue

A mother and her two children were killed Wednesday when the van in which they were traveling collided with a sport utility vehicle on Highland Avenue in Hollywood, according to police.

The 25-year-old mother and her 2-year-old daughter were pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police. A 6-year-old daughter was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials.

The crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. near 860 N. Highland Ave.

The driver of the Infiniti sport utility vehicle, a man in his 40s, was hospitalized in critical condition. Details regarding his condition were not immediately available.

The northbound SUV collided with southbound Dodge Caravan in which the family was traveling before the van crashed into a utility pole, police said.

The names of the deceased were not immediately released.
