Alleged Drunken Driver Critically Injured in Woodland Hills Crash

Four people were hurt, one critically, in a multi-car crash in Woodland Hills Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Alcohol was believed to be involved and investigators are currently looking into whether street racing was involved as well, according to the LAPD.

The collision happened about 9:45 p.m. in the 5600 block of Oakdale Avenue just north of the Ventura (101) Freeway and east of Winnetka Avenue.

Debris from the crash was strewn across three lanes of roadway and one car landed on a sidewalk near a bus bench, according to aerial footage.

At least three cars were involved in the crash.

The alleged drunk driver has severe injuries, including deep lacerations on his left arm and in his mouth. The three others that were hospitalized have only complained of pain, according to LAPD.

Further details were not immediately available.

It was the second crash believed to be alcohol-related in the San Fernando Valley Thursday night.

Two hours earlier in North Hills, a hit-and-run driver believed to be under the influence crashed into a car, sending it plunging into a flood control channel. Four passengers, two adults and two children, were rescued from the channel.

Soon after the crash, police found and arrested the driver using his license plate number.
