Multi-Vehicle Fiery Crash Closes Freeway in West L.A.

Two vehicles caught fire in the crashes which involved as many as nine vehicles.

A multi-vehicle crash caused the closure of a freeway in West Los Angeles Sunday Morning.

Witnesses say as many as nine vehicles were involved in accidents on the eastbound Santa Monica(10)Freeway near the San Diego(405)Freeway interchange.

At least two of the vehicles caught fire in the crashes at 1:24 a.m., said California Highway Patrol officer A. Rubio in the Traffic Management Center.

The cause of the accidents are under investigation, and there were no reports of any injuries, Rubio said.

The CHP closed the freeway in both directions so firefighters could put out the fire and the damaged cars could be removed.

The freeway was reopened by around 3:00 a.m.
