New Angel Shohei Ohtani Pitches Six Perfect Innings

Los Angeles Angels sensation Shohei Ohtani pitched a perfect game through the first six innings against the Oakland Athletics Sunday in his home pitching debut.

Ohtani struck out 11 of the first 18 batters he faced, finishing with 12 strikeouts.

But with one out in the seventh inning, Oakland's Marcus Semien jabbed a sharp single down the third-base line, spoiling Ohtani's perfect game.

The next batter walked, but Ohtani escaped the inning without giving up a run. He was lifted after the seventh.

It was a day for firsts at Anaheim Stadium, as Brian Schimpf hit his first home run for the Angels in the sixth.

The Angels won, 6-1.
