Angelenos soaking up the sun at the beach may now be able to freely surf—well, surf the web—due to a new pilot project that brings public internet access to local Los Angeles parks.
The service, called Oh, Ranger! Wi-Fi, is being sponsored by Toyota and will bring free online access at six local parks and beaches starting Thursday, the L.A. Parks Department said in a statement.
Visitors to Cabrillo Beach, Echo Park Lake, Griffith Observatory, Pershing Square, Reseda Park and Venice Beach will be able to access the network at specified hotspots at the parks.
Along with the free Wi-Fi, L.A. parks officials announced the creation of a mobile website as part of the program that aims to streamline service requests at city parks.
Park goers can send requests for repairs directly to the department’s construction and maintenance division by visiting m.laparks.org, officials said.
