    North Lake Tahoe
Headed for Squaw Valley or one of the other eleven ski-mazing destinations of North Lake Tahoe? All downhill action is flowing as of Friday, Dec. 15, woot woot.

"CHOICES, CHOICES"... seems like the expected way to start a post that talks about the plentiful downhill choices around North Lake Tahoe, and how all downhill skiing is very much happening as of Friday, Dec. 15. But if you love the area, and you try to return as often as life and time and obligations kindly permit, then you probably don't need to go the whole "choices, choices" route: You have your favorite hills, the runs you remember, and if you're not absolutely chomping to get back there, your general hankering is pretty darn strong. The "choices, choices" end of things come when a skier or snowboarder has done a few of their favorites again, for the first time this season, and then..? It might be the moment to start thinking about new, untried snowy horizons in the vicinity. And when that vicinity is North Lake Tahoe, the horizons are wide, indeed. For there are now 12, as in a dozen, as in a buncha-buncha resorts offering...

"TOP-TO-BOTTOM SKIING AND RIDING"... as of the middle of December 2017. These resorts include Alpine Meadows Resort, Diamond Peak, Homewood, Squaw Valley, and Tahoe Donner (find the full roster here). More news from the peak-plentiful place of frostful fun? "Up to 64 cumulative inches of snow at the summit" is happening, as well as "(c)old temperatures ideal for snowmaking." Not into the whole riding scene, and not looking to wield a pair of poles? North Lake Tahoe's got ya, with tubing, fat tire biking, and a whole line-up of non-ski, non-snowboarding pursuits. We're schussing into the new year, which means some of the hottest ski resorts around (meaning, yes, the coldest) are moving into full velocity. Go visit your favorites, if you have them, and then, yes, face the whole "choices, choices" dilemma as you decide what new-to-you resort should be next.
