OC Fair: Brew Hee Haw

Craft beers from around the county and beyond are the foamy focus during the fair's first weekend.

LIBATION CELEBRATION: No need to hem or haw over this one, though a "Hee" or a "Haw" is probably just fine. We're talking about hemming and hawing over the fact that, right now, the whimsical and outrageous edibles of the upcoming OC Fair are taking the tantalizing centerstage, as prospective attendees dream about what a luau chimichanga or a Krispy Kreme ice cream chicken sandwich might taste like, or a pizza covered in Flamin' Hot Cheetos. These are good things to ponder, and considering when you'll try each dish is a smart move ahead of the Costa Mesa spectacular's July 14 opening. But remember, through your heming and hawing, that libations also reign during the month-long, Wednesdays-through-Sundays to-do, the sort of prize-winning wines and fanciful dessert drinks that get fair goers gabbing, too. BREW HEE HAW... strolls into the OC Fair & Event Center for a major "Craft Beer Roundup." The 4th annual event includes your admission to the fair, as well as a chance to sip from "80+ Craft Beers on Tap." The sudsy roster includes Barley Forge Brewing Co., Common Cider Company, Pizza Port Brewing Company, and Tustin Brewing Company. Tunes and games round out the two-dayer.
