Officer Kills Suspected Gunman in North Hollywood

A suspected gunman was killed in an officer-involved shooting Friday night in North Hollywood, police said.

No officers were injured in the shooting, which happened around 8 p.m. in the area of Burbank Boulevard and Riverton Avenue after officers responded to a report of a man with a gun, said Sgt. Ernie Fischer of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

Fischer described the suspect as a male, aged 20-25, wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the suspect was holding a semi-automatic pistol and turned toward the officers, who then opened fire on him.

The suspect was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Fischer said.
