One Dead, Four Injured in North Hollywood Apartment Fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Los Angeles Fire Department's arson unit.

An apartment fire killed a man and injured four other people in North Hollywood on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 10:14 a.m. in a two-story apartment building at 5158 Riverton Ave. (map), Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said.

Three people were treated and released at the scene and two were hospitalized. One of the hospitalized patients later died, Scott said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation by the Los Angeles Fire Department's arson unit, Scott said.
