One-Eyed Suspected Gangster Arrested for Double 7-Eleven Murder

A witness decription of a one-eyed man led officials to Angel Santana

A suspected gang member was arrested Saturday in connection with a triple shooting that left two men dead outside a 7-Eleven in Panorama City.

Angel Santana, 29, was arrested in North Hills when gang officers located him at a motel, police said in a statement.

The shooting occurred about 6 a.m. July 17 in the 8200 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, police said.  Maron States, 26, and Deshawn Miles, 19, were killed, according to the coroner's office.

It was a distinctive description by a witness that led to the suspect -- he has one eye, police said.

"We had information that Santana was still local," said LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon in a statement. "Every gang officer was looking for this guy. It was just a matter of time."

Investigators said in July that a confrontation between a group of Hispanic and black men happened just before the shooting in front of the convenience store July 17.

Santana had two outstanding unrelated-warrants at the time of his arrest, LAPD Detective Gretchen Schultz said.

Calls to Santana’s lawyer were not immediately returned.
