One Killed, Another Injured In Overturned Vehicle Crash In Azusa

Alcohol and speed might have triggered a single-vehicle crash when a Honda Fit crashed into a fuel pump at a gas station Sunday morning in Azusa, where the passenger died at the scene and the motorist was seriously injured, authorities said.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to North Azusa Avenue and East First Street at 2:40 a.m. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another person was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with serious injuries, according to a county fire department dispatcher.

There was no fire after the crash, Azusa Police Lt. Robert Landeros said.

"Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash,'' he said.
