A suspect who ran from a traffic stop in Boyle Heights was wounded Wednesday afternoon in an officer-involved shooting in Boyle Heights.

No officers were injured in the shooting, which was reported about 4:50 p.m. in the area of Myers and Kearney streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Gang officers from the LAPD's Hollenbeck Station attempted to pull over a vehicle, officials said.

"A male passenger ran from the vehicle and the officers pursued him on foot, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred," according to a police statement. "The male was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. No officers were injured and there is a handgun at (the) scene."

The female motorist drove from the scene but officers took her into custody in the area of the Hollywood (101) Freeway and Mission Road, police said.
