Orange County Deputy Dies 6 Years After Collapse in Training

Officials say a Southern California sheriff's deputy who collapsed during SWAT training six years ago has died.

The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs says Carlos Cammon died Friday at a rehab facility from the injuries he suffered during the training exercise in 2013.

At the time of the incident, union officials said the collapse was due to what appeared to be "severe dehydration and cardiac issues."

The Orange County Register says Cammon was 29 years old at the time of the collapse and he never regained consciousness.

Cammon was a six-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff's Department and was assigned to patrol in Stanton.
