Lyft Inc. was sued by a woman who alleges she was raped by a driver for the ride-hailing company in 2015 after her boyfriend hired him to take her to a hotel because she had been drinking and did not want to drive.
The woman is identified only as Alyssa Doe in her Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, which was filed Friday and alleges negligence, battery and a violation of her civil rights.
A Lyft representative could not be immediately reached.
The boyfriend of the now-28-year-old woman used an app on his phone to have the Lyft driver dispatched to transport the woman to a hotel on May 26, 2015, the suit states.
"Plaintiff had consumed alcohol and did not want to drive," the suit states.
The Lyft driver took the woman to the hotel and then to her room, the suit states.
"Once inside, plaintiff was sexually assaulted and raped,..." the suit alleges.

The suit alleges that Lyft either performs no background checks on drivers, or that the vetting is inadequate.
