Temecula police arrested an 18-year-old man early Saturday in connection with two attempted burglaries and an assault in the area.
Officers were notified of one of the incidents shortly after 5 a.m. while investigating a different attempted burglary nearby. In the second case, a female victim woke up to find the suspect standing in her room.
The suspect allegedly hit the victim in the head with a shovel and ran away. Officers found him after a search of the area.
Gabriel Ramirez of Perris was taken into custody for two counts of attempted burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and being under the influence of drugs, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.
The victim suffered only superficial injuries and declined medical attention, officials said.
