Pipe-Wielding Man Disarmed, Beaten After Attacking 2 People on Bus in Torrance

A man armed with a pipe attacked two people on a bus in Torrance Tuesday, but the victims disarmed him and administered a beating of their own.

The attack occurred about 5 p.m. in the area of Spencer Street and Anza Avenue, according to Torrance Police Department Sgt. Paul Kranke.

"The subjects wrestled the pipe away from the suspect and hit the man several times," Kranke said. "The suspect fled from the bus into an apartment complex where a perimeter was established."

Police searched for the man, but he was not located and remains outstanding, Kranke said.

The victims sustained only minor injuries, Kranke said.
