Police Investigate Suspicious Death of Woman Found Dead in Bellflower Home

The woman's husband told police that the two were out partying and drank late the night prior.

An autopsy was pending Monday on the body of a 23-year-old Bellflower woman who was found dead in her home, prompting an investigation by sheriff's homicide detectives.

Deputies went to a residence in the 9500 block of Cedar Street, between Bellflower Boulevard and Clark Avenue, at 6:26 p.m. in response to a report of a person not breathing, said Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Sheriff's Lt. John Corina said the woman's 38-year-old husband told deputies they had gone out partying and drank a lot Sunday night to early Monday before falling asleep.

The husband awoke sometime Monday afternoon and discovered his wife unresponsive and not breathing, authorities said. However, he did not alert officials of his wife's failure to respond until approximately 6 p.m.

"It doesn't make much sense," Corina said at the scene, adding that the husband was being questioned but was not in custody.

Police said the woman's husband has been giving "confusing accounts."

Authorities were waiting to obtain a search warrant for the couple's townhome Monday night, NBC4 reported. The woman showed no obvious signs of trauma, according to the station.
