Police K-9 Helps Arrest Fleeing Suspect

Ceja was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.

A documented gang member with a felony warrant attempted to flee on foot during a traffic stop Saturday, but a police K-9 sprung into action and helped make the arrest, according to police.

Richard Ceja, 22, had a felony warrant and is a known gang member with a history of running from the police, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

SVPD said it made a traffic stop on Saturday at 3:19 p.m.

After being pulled over, Ceja jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to run away from police, according to SVPD. Police K-9 Bolt raced after Ceje and apprehended the suspect, according to SVPD.

Ceja was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries, along with being booked at Ventura Main Jail for a felony warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempted to evade police.
