Police Pursuit Ends in El Sereno

Police surrounded a motorist Tuesday after a pursuit in the San Gabriel Valley.

The chase led to a dead-end street in the 4200 block of Barrett Road in the El Sereno area, where the vehicle was surrounded by squad cars. Officers with guns drawn approached the vehicle and removed at least one person.

The pursuit on surface streets began at about 8 a.m. in the Boyle Heights area near East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and North Ditman Avenue. Police tried to pull the suspect over for a traffic violation and the driver took off, according to the LAPD.

By 8:44 a.m., the motorist was in the Alhambra area and traveling north. The motorist struck at least one vehicle. At about 9 a.m., the vehicle crossed a grass divider to make a U-turn in Alhambra.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 9 a.m.
