City leaders approved a $25,000 reward Tuesday for information about a shooting that killed a 1-year-old girl last week in Compton, officials said.

The Compton City Council authorized a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the death of Autumn Johnson.

The total reward could increase to $75,000 with funding from other agencies.

Johnson was killed Feb. 9 while in her bed after someone fired several shots into her family's home in the 200 block of Holly Avenue.

Johnson suffered a gunshot wound to the head. She later died at a hospital.

Deputies said they were searching for a newer model, blue Chevy Impala that was seen fleeing the area after the shooting.

Anyone with information on the crime was asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Officials also said anyone could provide information anonymously by calling 800-222-TIPS.
