Roggin’s Heroes Thanksgiving 2016

We’re at it again. Roggin’s Heroes Thanksgiving is back for the fifth year.

Even though past guests have featured the likes of Adoree’ Jackson and Terrell Newby, this may be our best class yet.

We look back at some of our most successful Roggin’s Heroes as we set the table for the future stars. This year’s talented crop may be our best yet. One of them makes one-handed catches look routine, almost as routine as his ability to speak three different languages. Originally aired as part of Roggin’s Heroes Thanksgiving, November 24, 2016.

Southern California’s top high school football players formed a unique holiday family, gathering for an enormous feast at the Four Seasons Westlake Village.

At times, they find themselves as enemies on the field but for this night, they came together and shared plenty of laughs while making new friends and lasting memories.

It’s taken years of dedication and hard work to reach this point and while the reward of a college scholarship is fantastic, the road is truly just beginning.

It’s a road that began for Osiris St. Brown at the age of five when his father made his start lifting weights in the garage. Dad knows what he’s doing, he’s a two-time Mr. Universe and he won Mr. World three times. Osiris is one of three remarkably-gifted brothers and soon, you could see all three together on the football field. But you might not understand them. Osiris speaks three languages, he’s a bright young man whose future at Stanford could lead to more than just football.

Then there’s Darnay Holmes. His father knows what it takes to play in the NFL, but Darick Holmes wound up on the wrong side of the tracks after his pro career, selling drugs and nearly getting killed in the process. Darnay is grateful is father is still here, helping him reach his dreams.

Football runs in the family for Wyatt Davis. His grandfather is a Hall of Famer and his dad not only played in college, he starred in The Program during a long and successful acting career.

While Wyatt has Hall of Fame bloodlines, one of the best to ever play the game makes a surprise appearance.

Eric Dickerson took time out to share his experiences with these future stars, imparting wisdom that could play a huge role as these athletes strive for success in college and beyond.

These young men have plenty to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. We count their many blessings on and off the field, including a few dance moves and some of their not-so-memorable moments.
