Authorities Search for More Possible Victims of Former Music Teacher Accused of Sexually Assaulting Student

The victim alleges she was sexually assaulted by Christian Hernandez at Los Rios Rock School

Editor's Note: Per a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's office, "The case was rejected on Dec. 27, 2017, due to lack of sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Charges were not filed."

A 30-year-old former music teacher at Los Rios Rock School in San Juan Capistrano was free on bail Friday following his arrest on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Christian Hernandez of Rancho Santa Margarita was arrested Thursday and posted bail later that night, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Lagaret.

Hernandez began working at the music school in 2011 and stopped working at the school in 2016 when the allegations arose, officials said.

One alleged victim, who is now 17, told investigators she was sexually assaulted at the school when she was 15, Lagaret said. Another alleged victim, now 20, came forward recently alleging she was sexually assaulted at her home when she was 16, but that case remains under investigation, officials said.

Both victims contend the alleged attacks occurred between two and five years ago, authorities said.

Sheriff's officials said that due to Hernandez's time spent working with minors, they suspect there may be additional victims. Anyone with information was asked to call investigators at (714) 647-7419 or (714) 647-7000.
