Santa Ana Man Pleads Guilty to Molesting 10 Boys

Edwin Damean Echeverria, 26, of Santa Ana pleaded guilty Monday to 24 felony counts involving sexual assaults on the victims.

A man who admitted molesting 10 boys in Santa Ana is facing 27 years to life in prison, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Edwin Damean Echeverria, 26, of Santa Ana pleaded guilty Monday to 24 felony counts involving sexual assaults on the victims.

Several sentencing enhancement allegations of sexual assaults on multiple victims are expected to be dismissed as part of the plea deal at sentencing, which is scheduled for Nov. 8, according to Deputy District Attorney Lexie Elliott.

The molestations of the victims, ages 11 to 17, date back to 2010, according to court records.

Echeverria has been in custody since Dec. 3, 2014. He befriended many of his victims during the summer of 2012 around the Warwick Square Apartment complex, in the 700 block of South Lyon Street, by plying them with chips, soda and other snacks, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The parents of one of the victims learned of an "inappropriate relationship" with the suspect, prompting them to call police, Bertagna said.
