Santa Ana Woman Accused of Sex With Teen

Investigators say victim may have fathered suspect's new baby

Investigators believe 32-year-old Mayra Gonzalez was involved in a relationship and had a child with a now-16 year old.

"A child was born," said Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department. "Statements indicate the child was born of the relationship with the 16-year-old victim."

Authorities allege the crimes occurred over several months in 2011 in the victim's home when his parents were away.

People who live in the area were disgusted to learn why the mother of four is now in jail, held on $20,000 bail.

"There is an age difference," said mother Marissa Garza. "That’s just wrong. I don't know how the lady can do, oh my God."

Police say neighbors approached the victim before Gonzales' boyfriend moved out.

One teenager in the neighborhood said she knows the family.

"He's 16," the girl said. "She's older. She should know who to get with and who not to get with, you know?"

Investigators say Gonzalez helped them make their case.

"She's been extremely cooperative," Bertagna said. "Again, admitted the relationship. She is of the opinion she's in love with this individual. Knew it was wrong but is in love with this individual."

Gonzalez is set to arraigned Friday on eight felony counts. If convicted, she could face eight years in prison and lifetime sex-offender registration.
