A Santa Ana woman was charged with attempting to kidnap a newborn child from a home while posing as a social worker.
The 38-year-old woman, Sara Orozco Magana, was arrested and charged with a felony and faces a maximum of 7 and a half years in state prison if convicted.
Magana showed up to a woman's home in Santa Ana and presented herself as a social worker, telling the mother of the child that she had to take her son away.
She refused to show identification and told the mother that a doctor most likely reported abuse against the child.
Magana attempted to intimidate the mother by threatening to call the police if she did not give up her son to her, but to no avail.
The mother did not give up her son and her sister instead filmed as Magana left the home; the footage was released by the Santa Ana Police Department to try and identify the woman.
"The safety of our children is paramount," said District Attorney Todd Spitzer. "The Orange County District Attorney's Office would like to remind parents, especially the parents of newborns, to remain vigilant about anyone who is around your child."

Magana was released from custody after posting $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned next week.
