Search for Gunman Cordons Off Santa Clarita Neighborhood

Residents in Santa Clarita are being told to stay in their homes while police search for a man who fired at deputies near Sarabande Lane and Dolan Way, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The search area is bordered by Sierra Highway, Soledad Canyon Road, Sarabande Lane and Canyon Country.

Authorities said a white male with a gun fired on deputies near Sarabande Lane and Dolan way about 7:10 p.m. Deputies fired back and the man ran. It was unclear if the man was struck in the exchange of gunfire.

The gunman is described as a white male, about 28 years old, wearing a blue shirt, grey shorts and a blue hat. He was using an unknown type of handgun, police said.
